Hilbert Museum of California Art

Saturday. March 16. 2024

Back in February, I spotted an exciting advertisement announcing the expansion grand opening of the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University in Orange, California. Little Kong and I promptly reserved two tickets for a Saturday noon visit and embarked on a journey to Old Towne Orange, brimming with curiosity. Conveniently, a nearby public parking structure facilitated our parking and granted us easy access to the museum. As we approached the entrance, we were warmly greeted by a charming scene: a little girl accompanied by two playful dolphins.

Our astonishment grew as we explored the museum’s impressive collection. The diverse array of artwork, sourced from various artists, captivated our attention. One particular exhibit titled Same Place, Another Time: Views of Orange County caught our eye, offering a captivating glimpse into the beauty and cultural evolution of OC. We were especially delighted to encounter the enchanting concept art of Disney artist Mary Blair’s interpretation of “Alice in Wonderland,” as well as the timeless works of the legendary illustrator Norman Rockwell, including his original paintings, drawings, and artist prints.

The weekend adventure at the Hilbert Museum of California Art left us thoroughly impressed and eager to return anytime in the future, to dive into the world of California art once again.

Had awesome lunch at “Noodle St” in Fullerton, California :D
