Eunhye Jung’s Solo Exhibition

Sunday. April 21. 2024

In the spring of 2024, I was fortunate to have the chance to stay at my friend’s atelier in Changwon-si, South Korea. Changwon-si, located in the southeastern part of the country within South Gyeongsang Province, is a vibrant city with a rich cultural scene. The atelier was conveniently situated in downtown Changwon, providing easy access to numerous cultural and recreational spots. During my stay, I found that the artist Eunhye Jung was holding a solo exhibition at Seongsan Art Hall. Filled with anticipation, I eagerly decided to see her artwork in person.

“Your Face, Mr.”

“A Pleasant Afternoon”

“Jimin Unnie”

“Jiro, on the Lawn”

“Ryota the Cat”

“My Favorite Writer, Noh Heekyung”

“The Things Ms. Eunhye Loves”

“My Fraternal Twin Sister”

“Woobin Oppa and a Big Fan (The Inheritors)”

“Happy Jiro”

“Granny Park Soondeok, Lee Jeomdal, and Kim Pungja” and “Marine and I”

“Foreign Model Untying a Ribbon Tied with Perfume” and “Mom’s Future Reality”

Eunhye Jung’s exhibition was part of the special shows titled “Touching Colors” for the Day of People with Disabilities. The exhibition featured a series of portrait paintings and drawings of herself, her family, and her friends. I was captivated by her use of color and the delicate, unique lines that defined her work. As I admired each piece, I could feel the deep affection she had for the people she portrayed. Her artwork conveyed a sense of warmth and love that left a lasting impression on me. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring her world of portraits and look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
