HELLO,

I am an illustrator based in Los Angeles, United States. I was born in Korea and I moved here to pursue my MFA in Illustration at California State University, Long Beach.

I have dedicated myself to creating illustrations and drawings that are influenced by both my personal experiences and imagination. My preferred medium of choice is graphite pencil, as it allows me to bring my ideas to life with unparalleled precision and detail.

AS A CHILD,

Julie Unchue Song is holding a small version of her artwork titled “A Zebra and Giraffes,” which was exhibited in the group show “Power in Numbers 6” at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, California.

I was very shy and I loved to read. I usually spent my time in the old, small shed where we put dusty old books and belongings. While I was reading books in there, the stories played in my head like a film, and I enjoyed daydreaming. That memory helped me visualize a fantasy world in which ordinary places and things inspired imagined characters and structures.

My work is based on the idea of celebrating imagination, and I want to give people a little pleasure by using my imagination to illustrate my fantasies based on ordinary places.
